Connecting Flights Foundation embarked on its first-ever adventure, sending three deserving families on a life-changing journey to Minneapolis and the breathtaking Apostle Islands.

Three deserving families from the Greater Los Angeles Area, representing the rich diversity of our community, embarked on this incredible outdoor adventure in the Great Lakes region. Their journey was filled with exploration, bonding, and the creation of lifelong memories

Kenya's Family
Partner Org: She is Hope LA
For Kenya, this trip was an opportunity for her family of 5, including her veteran husband and their three sons, to explore the wilderness and reconnect as a unit during the transition back to civilian life.

Partner Org: She is Hope LA
For Diana, this trip provided a needed respite in the midst of a busy life as a single mom working full time, while also caring for her mother battling cancer.

Partner Org: Aviva Family and Children’s Services
This trip marked a joyous new chapter for Adriana, and her partner, Michael, as they celebrated the adoption of their son, Alejandro. This was first family adventure together and Alejandro's first ever airplane ride!
From city lights to wilderness wonders
Urban Exploration (July 9-10)
Our adventure began with two days of vibrant urban exploration in Minneapolis! Families touched down ready to discover the city's rich culture, bustling neighborhoods, and famous landmarks. From scenic river cruises to the vast Mall of America and the interactive Children's Museum, the city offered a world of discovery. We also shared a powerful and moving experience at the George Floyd Memorial.
Wilderness Immersion (July 11-14)
After two days in the city, we set off on a four-hour drive to the breathtaking Apostle Islands in Wisconsin. Here, we joined Wilderness Inquiry for an unforgettable adventure! Families were immersed in the natural beauty of Lake Superior, kayaking along pristine coastlines and hiking through lush forests.
Homeward Bound (July 15)
Our incredible week concluded with families heading homeward, forever changed. They carried with them memories of a lifetime and a spirit of adventure that will stay long after their return.
